The HP 9000 servers we support do a variety of challenging and high-powered jobs. Most of these high end, enterprise servers work in standalone and clustered environments in test and development, production, web delivery, database or vital application roles. We are an accredited HP partner and can work with HP directly and indirectly. We have over 15 years experience working with the full HP range and can provide you with access to references and testimonials from direct clients and channel partners that will show we deliver what we promise and deliver it for less!

As you would expect we have a full compliment of HP trained engineers, administrators and specialists who have plenty of real world experience! In fact, we may argue that our engineers have learned a lot more from practical work in the field than they ever learned from gaining their certificates but it’s still good to have them.  The following are just a sample:

We can provide basic hardware support for the purpose of restoring hardware to factory operational levels. However, if that’s where we stopped then we would be horrified! We aim to work with you to return to the point where you had a problem not simply take you back to where you were when you unpacked the box and powered it up! It’s just one of those things that make us different and better.

Our aim is to deliver everything that you would expect from having a contract with HP. However, that is a minimum set of standards. Maybe we should call them ‘Care More’ Packs! 

We know what is usual. We know what is typical. We know general levels of support are ok if a bit expensive. The problem is we don’t do ‘usual’ or ‘typical’ or ‘ok’ as a service level.

HP Integrity Servers
 rx1600 Series
The 1U rx1600 server is based on the zx1 chipset and has support for one or two 1 GHz Deerfield Itanium 2 CPU's.
The 1U rx1620 server is based on the zx1 chipset and has support for one or two 1.3\1.6 GHz Fanwood Itanium 2 CPU's.
Common for the series is:

• Support for up to 8 DIMM's
• Dual channel Ultra 320 SCSI controller with support for two internal disks
• Support for two Hotswappable Ultra 320 harddrives
• One external Ultra 320 SCSI port
• 10/100/1000BaseTX LAN port
• An additional 10/100BaseTX LAN port
• General Purpose RS232 serial port
• Possibility for Redundant Power supplies
• Two USB ports
• Two PCI-X slots

Optional features are:

The 2U rx2600 server is based on the zx1 chipset and has support for one or two 1.0/1.4 GHz Deerfield/Madison, 1.3 GHz Madison or 1.5 GHz Madison CPU's
The 2U rx2620 server is based on the zx1 chipset and has support for one or two 1.6 GHz Fanwood/Madison or 1.4/1.6 GHz Montecito CPU's
The 2U rx2660 server is based on the zx2 chipset and has support for one or two 1.6 GHz Montvale or 1.42/1.66 GHz Montvale CPU's

The 4U rx3600 is based on the zx2 chipset and has two CPU sockets which support Montecito or Montvale processors. It supports up to 96GB of main memory, using twenty-four 4GB DIMMs

• Support for up to 24 ECC protected PC2 4200 DDR2 memory DIMMs (with two optional 12 slot memory carrier boards)
• Dual-port 10/100/1000Base TX LAN
• Integrated iLO2 Management Processor
• Choice of I/O backplane: PCI-X with 8 available PCI-X slots , or the PCI Express I/O backplane, containing 4 x8 PCI Express slots, and 4 PCI-X slots. The system also has 2 reserved PCI-X slots, one of which is used for a PCI-X Dual-port 10/100/1000Base TX LAN card, and the other is reserved for an optional internal Smart Array RAID card.
• N+1 hot swappable fans
• Hot swappable power supply.
• Eight 2.5" Serial Attached SCSI Disk Drive Slots
• 8-port SAS host bus adapter, supporting two RAID 1 volumes and a hot spare
• Hot swappable PCI-X I/O cards.

Optional Features:
• up to 8 SAS Disk Drives, with support for up to 72GB 15K RPM or 146GB 10K RPM disks.
• Redundant hot swappable power supply.
• 8-port HP Smart Array P400 or P600, or 16-port P800 SAS RAID controllers available for internal disks, supporting RAID 1/5/6 and hot spare disks.

rx4640-4
The 4U rx4640 has four CPU sockets which support Madison, Hondo, or Montecito processors and the HP mx2 Dual-processor Module containing two Intel Itanium 2 processors. It is zx1 based and can have either 16 or 32 DIMM slots, supporting 256MB to 4GB DIMMs which must be loaded in matched quads. It has 6 PCI-X slots available.
rx5670
The 7U rx5670 server has four CPU sockets which support McKinley and Madison processors. It is zx1 based and can have up to 48 DIMM slots, supporting 256MB to 2GB DIMMs which must be loaded in matched quads. It has 9 PCI-X slots and 1 PCI slot available.
This server is no longer available.
rx7620-8
The 10U rx7620 server has eight CPU sockets which support Madison and Hondo processors and the HP mx2 Dual-processor Module containing two Intel Itanium 2 processors. It is sx1000 based and has 15 PCI-X slots available.
rx8620-16
The 17U rx8620 server has sixteen CPU sockets which support Madison and Hondo processors and the HP mx2 Dual-processor Module containing two Intel Itanium 2 processors. It is sx1000 based and has 16 PCI-X slots.
Superdome
The Superdome server is available in several models: SD-16, SD-32, SD-64
Operating systems
Apart from HP-UX and Domain/OS (on the 400), many HP 9000s can also run the Linux operating system. Some PA-RISC-based models are able to run NEXTSTEP.
BSD Unix was ported to the HP 9000 as HPBSD; the resulting support code was later added to 4.4BSD. Its modern variants NetBSD and OpenBSD also support various HP 9000 models, both Motorola 68k and PA-RISC based.
